The Grammy-winning vocalist Kacey Musgraves has admitted to inadvertently visiting a “gay cruising sauna” in Sydney.
Musgraves, who is presently touring Australia, made the amusing remark on Thursday night while she was singing in Sydney.
Speaking to the sold-out crowd, Musgraves disclosed that she chose to visit a sauna in Sydney in order to unwind while on tour.
She noticed something wasn’t quite right as she meandered into the sauna.
At that moment, it dawned on her that she had actually ended up in a sauna that was primarily frequented by gay males seeking a good time.
Seeing the humorous side of her error, Musgraves laughed and said, “It’s apparently the gay sauna destination of this country.”
“This is very gay,” she disclosed. “This is not meant for me. They used the word ‘cruise.’ They said wet rooms … they said 23 serviceable wet rooms. Plenty of cruising areas.”
However, Musgraves admitted that none of that deterred her.
“So I still stayed! I wanted to make some friends; I was nosy. What if I could learn a thing or two in there? They said it’s 24 hours, so we’re going back after the show.”
The country music singer has spoken about the importance of her queer fanbase and is a champion of promoting LGBT rights worldwide. In 2022 Musgraves received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award.
For the record, Sydney Sauna in Darlinghurst has Thursday nights that are open to all genders. After receiving the shout-out, the Sydney Sauna team took to Instagram to share a video of the performance.
