David Hanbury, a 37-year-old psychology professor at Averett University, was discovered deceased on Saturday at Club Orlando<\/a>, a day after he was reported missing.<\/p>\n

Hanbury had been in Orlando<\/a> for the Southeastern Psychological Association conference near Universal Studios. On Sunday, the Orlando Police responded to a call regarding an ‘unattended death’ at the club.<\/p>\n

Initially, investigators did not disclose where Hanbury’s body was found but stated that his death did not appear suspicious. The cause and manner of his death are currently unknown, pending the report from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.<\/p>\n

According to his older brother JJ’s Facebook post, Hanbury, originally from Kentucky, was staying at the Double Tree hotel. JJ described his brother as not being a partier and expressed concern when Hanbury failed to contact their mother, whom he usually spoke with multiple times a day.<\/p>\n

Hanbury missed a scheduled speech at the conference on Saturday, raising concerns among his acquaintances. JJ attempted to reach him but only reached voicemail.<\/p>\n

Hanbury had been an associate professor and co-chair of Averett University’s psychology department since 2015. The university released a statement expressing condolences and prayers of support to Hanbury’s family and friends.<\/p>\n

A vigil was held in Hanbury’s memory on Monday night at the college, where faculty and students gathered to honor the professor who had impacted their lives.<\/p>\n
